Outsourcing - A Strategic Imperative

Outsourcing has become a global discipline.  Companies are integrating into their sourcing strategies comprehensive approaches in identifying and selecting talent to help them compete on a global basis.  Where outsourcing used to be just about cost savings, it has now evolved into a capability that allows companies to accelerate innovation, improve time to market, and provide round the clock development services.

Nearshore Capabilities

L5 Source has developed very strong relationships with nearshore firms in Mexico.  We have the capability to tap into a deep resource pool of over 600 IT professionals with knowledge in Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Sun Microsystems, HP, and other mainstream platforms.  In addition, we are also able to tap into expertise in ERP platforms such as PeopleSoft and SAP as well as BEA.

Whether you are dealing with an enterprise wide problem or a functionally, Mexico offers many advantages that US companies can leverage in their strategic and tactical technology decisions.  IT cost levels, industry environment, and human resources capabilities are very attractive and competitive .  These capabilities are being further strengthened through the adoption and implementation of recognized global standards such as CMMI and PMI.

Mexico has the highest IT undergraduate level workforce in Latin America (+100,000).  30% of the current undergraduate total is enrolled in IT related fields.  18,000 IT college students are graduating on an annual basis.  Excellent educational institutions, such as the Instituto Tecnologico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM), have globally recognized academic programs and strong working relationships with industry groups such as the Software Engineering Institute (SEI).

The telecommunications infrastructure between the US and Mexico is excellent.  This enables real time collaboration through broadband services available throughout the nation, including world class service in Mexico’s main cities (Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey, to name a few).  Mexico was also the first Latin American country involved in Internet II.

Mexico‘s near-shore approach also offers advantages in reduced travel costs, geographic proximity, shared times zones, cultural affinity and legal and intellectual property protections through NAFTA.

Offshore Capabilities

L5 Source has now started to expand its relationships with India offshore firms.  We felt that in addition to the nearshore option, an offshore capability will significantly enhance the breath and depth of talent that we can offer our customers at different price points and with complementary skill sets.

India has a track record of many years delivering IT outsourced solutions with sophisticated delivery models as well as industrial strength quality processes such as CMMI and PMI.

Our relationship with Indian firms is currently focused on Microsoft, Oracle and Java platforms.

Breadth and Depth

Our alliances and partnerships allow us to involve and deploy the appropriate resources, with the right mix of industry expertise, technology knowledge, and process management.  We have chosen Mexico and India as our outsourcing partners because they represent two strong complementary skills and price points designed to meet a wide range of risk, quality and price scenarios.
